League City Real Estate
In 1873, George W. Butler became its first resident and the community was called Butlers Ranch or Clear Creek. In 1893, a man
named J. C. League acquired much of the land, laid out a townsite, and provided for a school. Beginning as a farming community, our little
township has now come to be known as League City.
The mild gulf climate and the Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD) mushroomed the population from 19,000
residents in 1990, to 74,000 residents today. Planners and administrators have kept up with the tremendous growth in fine fashion, earningLeague City a spot as finalist inMoney Magazines 2006 – 100 Best Place to Live. League City has all the amenities of a big town while still maintaining a small town feel. Main Street, lined with 100
year old majestic oak trees, is the historical district, where you find quaint gift and antique shops, and a beautifully manicured little public park
called Helens Garden.
There are over 7,000 boats in fifteen marinas surrounding Clear Lake, making water sports and recreation popular hobbies with
many residents. Birding enthusiasts love the vast array of migratory birds that stop by for a rest before moving on, and golfers have several choices where
to tee-off with three golf courses in the area.
If you ultimately decide on one of the homes for sale in League City,
the children will be attending the Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD). CCISD is a highly sought after school system and has earned an Exemplary Rating by
the Texas Education Agency (TEA), and parents regularly praise the high quality education their children receive.
